Hip Christmas Cards From Lowbrow Artists & Graphic Designers

There are tons of beautiful Christmas Cards one can choose to give this year; designers like Snow & Graham, Elum and many others... just look at my side bar with all the links to paper goods, stationers and printers.

However, you might be tired of elegance, simplicity, gold foil cards, photos of winter and retro angels and if you are, these might just be the answer.

In addition to the letter pressed cards, silk screened cards and photo cards available, there's a proliferation of cards featuring the artwork of today's hottest 'lowbrow' artists published by MOCA for Last Gasp as well as some wonderful graphically designed, artfully painted and typographic ones to choose from.

First of all, for those unfamiliar with the term, just what is 'lowbrow art'? As defined by Wikipedia:

Lowbrow, or lowbrow art[1], describes an underground visual art movement that arose in the Los Angeles, California, area in the late 1970s. Lowbrow is a widespread populist art movement with origins in the underground comix world, punk music, hot-rod street culture, and other subcultures. It is also often known by the name pop surrealism. Lowbrow art often has a sense of humor - sometimes the humor is gleeful, sometimes impish, and sometimes it's a sarcastic comment.[2]

Got that? okay, now take a look at these.
